Ganz im Stil von "Footprints Live" hat Wayne Shorter mit "Alegria" den musikalischen Weg weiter geführt, der ihm das Prädikat als einer der weltbesten Kreativ-Improvisatoren attestiert. "Alegria" ist auch Shorters erstes All Acoustic Album als Bandleader seit 1967. Die Besetzung liest sich wie ein "Who's Who in Jazz": Danilo Perez (p), Brad Mehldau (p), John Patitucci (b), Brian Blade (d), Terri Lyne Carrington (d), Alex Acuna (perc) und Chris Potter (ts, cl). "Alegria" bestätigt einmal mehr, dass Wayne Shorter einer der selten gewordenen Jazz-Meister ist, der immer noch in pionierhafter Weise nach neuen Impulsen und Richtungen sucht.
